In an ongoing effort to improve product quality and remain the #1 supplier on the market we have laboratory tests showing that MB-4000 had the best mechanical properties at elevated temperatures but chemically, materials with vinyl-ester resin had the edge. Not to be outdone, we investigated and came up with a new formulation, which would retain the mechanical properties and improve chemical resistance.
Laboratory Tests
The improved grade was tested in Sulfuric Acid at 70°C for 48 hours. Tested along with this new formulation was the previous MB-4000 and a comparable material from a leading competitor.

NO CHANGE |
It was also discovered that the wetting between the resin and the glass fiber has improved. This means that the material has an increased resistance to no-clean fluxes that can mechanically remove the resin from the glass.
When the flux evaporates into a gas it can remove the resin from the glass if it is trapped in small cracks or pores. The improved wetting should prevent this from happening in the future. All materials produced from September 1999 are in the new grade. Our customers will be receiving the new grade of MB-4000 effective immediately!
